"Croppie's Strathspey", also known as "Mr. Douglas of Springwood Park" is a Scottish strathspey in G Major. The parts are played AB (Hunter) or AA'B (Milne). The tune has been attributed to Peter Milne (1824-1908), a mentor and sometimes playing partner of J. Scott Skinner (1843 - 1927) known as "The Strathspey King". However, there is some evidence it was actually composed by Alexander Givan of Kelso whose name is attached to the "Mr. Douglas of Springwood Park" title. The 'croppie' referred to in the title refers to a tenant farmer and not an Irish revolutionary. It was printed in Hunter's Fiddle Music of Scotland (1988) and Milne's Middleton’s Selection of Strathspeys, Reels &c. for the Violin (1870). It was recorded by Abby Newton on Crossing to Scotland (1997).
