"The Flitter Dance", also known as "Flitter Daunsey" is a polka in 2/4 time from England, Isle of Mann in D Dorian. The parts are played AABB. A 'flitter' is a type of limpet (an aquatic snail with a broadly conical shell). "Flitter Daunsey" is Manx for "limpit dance". The custom was for people to go to the beaches and dance to this tune and eat the limpits native to the area on Good Friday. It was printed in Carlin's Master Collection (1984). It was recorded by Ensemble Galilei on Music in the Great Hall (1992). They play it in a medley with "Illiam Y Thalhear" and "Shooyl Inneenyn" which are both in this section.
