A halyard chanty, "Whiskey O" is also known as "Whiskey Johnny" but "Whiskey Johnny" is sung to a shorter call and response tune with no chorus while "whiskey O" is sung with short verses and an extended chorus. The verses are interchangeable. It is cataloged as Roud 651. Both versions have been recorded by many singers including The Clancy Brothers, Ewan MacColl, A.L. Lloyd, Louis Killen and the Hardtackers. I probably learned it first from The Clancy Brothers.
