"Balance the Straw" is an English morris dance tune in 6/8 time and D Major (Bacon) or<br> G Major (Mallinson). The parts are played AABA (Bacon) or AABB (Mallinson).<br> It is from the Field Town (Leafield) area of England's Cotswolds. Bacon (1974) says this tune<br> is a "new version of 'Balance the Straw' which has appeared in post-war years, and has<br> become an accepted and effective part of the morris man's repertoire. The tune is a<br> composed or at least a modified one".<br> It is a 6/8 version of the A and B parts of "Balance a Straw".<br> It was printed in Bacon's The Morris Ring (1974) and<br> Mallinson's Mally's Cotswold Morris Book, vol. 1 (1988).<br>
