"The Family Bible" is a shape-note hymn found in several sources.
The melody is a version of Bonaparte Crossing the Rhine which is also known as Ranahan's March in southwestern Pennsylvania.
It was printed in Young's Christian Companion (1826), The Sacred Harp (1991 edition) (as "The Old-Fashioned Bible", with a chorus) and Walker's Southern Harmony (1835).
It appears with a different melody in the Bremen edition of The Sacred Harp.
