"The Bush on the Hill", also known as "Humors of Miltown", "The Lowdown Jig", "McGlinchey's Jig",<br> "Milltown Maid", "The Old West Clare Jig", "Paddy Killoran's Jig" or "Seán Ryan's Jig" is an<br> Irish jig in 6/8 time and A Major (Cranford/Stubbert, Taylor/Tweed) or G Major (Mulvihill).<br> The parts are played AABB (Cranford/Stubbert, Mulvihill) or AA'BB' (Taylor/Tweed).<br> It was composed by Jack McKenna (an accompanist to Hughie Gillespie and Paddy Killoran) and<br> touched up a bit by Killoran himself, who then recorded it. <br> "The Lowdown Jig", the title by which it is known nowadays in County Kerry,<br> is descriptive of the distinctive first part of the tune, which begins with a roll on the<br> open 'G' string. Killoran himself recorded the tune in A, the key still preferred by older<br> New York and Cape Breton fiddlers. <br> It was printed in Bulmer & Sharpley's Music from Ireland vol. 2 (1974) (as "McGlinchey's Jig"),<br> Cranford's Brenda Stubbert's (1994), Flaherty's Trip to Sligo (1990), Miller & Perron's Irish<br> Traditional Fiddle Music vol. 2 (1977)(appears as "Jig from West Clare"), Miller & Perron's<br> Irish Traditional Fiddle Music, 2nd Edition (2006), Mulvihill's 1st Collection (1986) and<br> Taylor's Traditional Irish Music: Karen Tweed's Irish Choice (1994). <br> It was recorded by Paddy Killoran with Jack McKenna on Memories of Ireland (1959)<br> Mick Moloney on Strings Attached, Brian Conway & Tony De Marco on The Apple in Winter (1981),<br> Kevin and Liz Carroll on Fathers and Daughters. <br>
