"Buttermilk and Pratees" is an Irish jig in D Major. The parts are played AABB.
According to Ryan’s Mammoth Collection, it was composed by one Tom Doyle. Composer Doyle also contributed "Parnell and Ireland" and "Paddy's Farewell to America" to William Bradbury Ryan's 1883 collection (published in Boston by Elias Howe). I have not been able to find any information on Tom Doyle or any further information on this tune. The B part is somewhat reminiscent of "The Irish Washerwoman". It was printed in Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940) and Ryan’s Mammoth Collection (1883). |
