"Cossey's Jig", "Jimmy O'Brien's Jig" is an Irish jig in G major.
Samuel Bayard (1981) sees the tune as having two separate versions, a song air which is the elder and an instrumental air deriving from it. It has been printed in Kerr's Merry Melodies, vol. 1 and vol. 3, O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903), Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940) and Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle (1981) among others. It has been recorded by Fennigs All Stars, Art Rosenbaum, The Chieftains and others I learned this from 1000 Fiddle Tunes. |
