There are three different tunes called "The Humors of Whiskey": a song, a slip jig and this one, a double jig in D major. The Gaelic title is "Sugra na Uisge-Beata". The parts are played AABB. This air bears a general resemblance to the "Maid on the Green/Maiden on the Green" group of tunes, according to Bayard (1981). Flood (1906) reports that it was recorded by the Belfast Northern Star of July 15th, 1792, as one of the tunes having been played in competition by one of ten Irish harp masters at the last great ancient Irish harpers convocation, the Belfast Harp Festival, held that week. It was printed in O'Neill (Krassen)(1976), O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903) and O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907).
