"The Hunt", in Gaelic "An Seilg" or "An Fiadac", also known as "Galtee Hunt", "Mount Phoebus' Hunt" or "The Mountfamous Hunt" is an Irish set dance in cut time and G Major/Mixolydian. The parts are played AB (Stanford/Petrie) or AABB (most versions). The 'B' part, at twelve measures, is longer than the eight-measure 'A' part; not uncommon for set dance tunes. It was printed in Jordan's Whistle & Sing (1975), Mallinson's 100 Enduring (1995), Mitchell's Dance Music of Willie Clancy (1993), O'Neill (Krassen) (1976), O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903), O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907), Roche's Collection of Traditional Irish Music, vol. 2 (1912) and Stanford/Petrie's Complete Collection (1905).
