"Killarney Boys of Pleasure", in Gaelic "Gaigíní Chill Áirne", also known as "Docherty's Reel", "Doherty's Reel", "The Gweebara Bridge Reel", "Johnny Doherty's Reel" or "The New Fashioned Habit" is an Irish reel in A Dorian (Brody/Boys of the Lough) or E Dorian (Breathnach, Miller & Perron). The parts are played AABB (Brody, Mallinson, Miller & Perron) and AA'BB' (Breathnach, Miller & Perron/2006). The town of Killarney can be found in west Kerry, southern Ireland and its name means 'the cell among the sloe trees' (referring to a monastary or other religious site). The reel, which is usually played in E Dorian, was popularized by Tommy Peoples. The reel is known as "Ril a' Sean Nós" ("The Old Style Reel") in County Donegal. The Killarney title is from County Antrim. It was printed Breathnach's CRÉ III (1985), Brody's Fiddler's Fakebook (1983), Bulmer & Sharpley's Music from Ireland, vol. 1 (1974), Jordan's Whistle and Sing (1975), Mallinson's 100 Essential (1995), Miller & Perron's Traditional Irish Fiddle Music (1977) and Miller & Perron's Irish Traditional Fiddle Music, 2nd Edition (2006). It was recorded by Seán Keane on Gusty's Frolics (1975) and Boys of the Lough on Boys of the Lough (1973) (Appears as "Docherty's Reel").
