"Knocknaboul Polka", also known as "The Trooper and the Maid" is an Irish polka in 2/4 time and G Major. The parts are played AABB. This is not the same melody as the Child ballad and folk song variants known as "The Trooper and the Maid". "The Trooper and the Maid" is a widespread folksong known throughout Ireland, Scotland and England, sometimes called "The Bold/Light Dragoon". It has also been collected in North America.
