"McFadden's Handsome Daughter", in Gaelic "Ingean Datamuil Mic Paidin" is also known as "The Pride of Rockchapel" is an Irish reel in A Major (Miller, O'Malley, O'Neill, Vallely) or G Major (Alewine). The parts are played AB (O'Malley), ABC (O'Neill, Vallely), AA'B or AABC (Miller).
Parts of O'Neill's three-part tune, collected from Chicago fiddler John McFadden, are similar "My Love is Fair and Handsome" as recorded by County Sligo fiddler Paddy Killoran in New York on a c. 1950's 78 RPM recording (the other side included the jig "The Pride of Rockchapel," which has led to some confusion with that name being applied to this reel). As O'Neill had already collected the unrelated "My Love is Fair and Handsome" it is possible that he rechristened McFadden's more elaborate three-part settling in order to distinguish it from the other reel.
It was printed in Alewine's Maid that Cut Off the Chicken's Lips (1987), Miller's Fiddler's Throne (2004), O'Malley's Luke O'Malley's Collection of Irish Music, vol. 1 (1976), O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903) O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907), Vallely's Learn to Play the Tin Whistle with the Armagh Pipers Club, vol. 3. It was recorded by Mick Conneely on Selkie (2001), Kevin Burke on If the Cap Fits (1978), Solas on Sunny Spells and Scattered Showers (1997), Four Men and a Dog on Barking Mad, Matt Molloy & John Carty with Arty McGlynn on Pathway to the Well (2008), Mick Moloney on Strings Attached, Mick Moloney on The Dance Music of Ireland. Jigs and Reels and Seamus and Manus McGuire on Humours of Lissadell.
