"The Top of the Stairs" is an Irish reel in G. Like "Ricky's White Face" it was composed by Chicago fiddler Liz Carroll. She composed it while sitting at the stair top playing a button accordion. It was recorded by The Ceili Bandits on The Ceili Bandits, Eileen Ivers on Eileen Ivers, Liz Carroll on Double Play, Mick Maloney on Strings Attached and several others.
