"The Wexford Lasses", also known as "Killoran's Reel", “Last Night's Fun" or
"Wexford Reel" is an Irish reel in D Major. The parts are played AB
(O'Neill/1850 & 1001) or AA'BB' (O'Neill/Krassen).
The alternate title “Killorans’s” comes its association with fiddler Paddy Killoran (1904-1965), who recorded it after World War II accompanied by Mike Flynn, a flute player. On their recording it was called "Martin Wynne's". Breathnach prints it as “Last Night's Fun” transcribed from the playing of Charlie Lennon & Mick O’Connor. It was printed in Breathnach's Ceol Rince na hÉireann III (1985), Krassen's O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1976), O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903) and O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907). It was recorded by Mick, Louise & Michelle Mulcahy on Reelin' in Tradition (2009). |
