"Young Arthur Daly", in Gaelic "Art óg ua dalaig" is an Irish reel in A Major.
The parts are played AAB.
"Young Arthur Daly" would appear to be a borrowing by O'Neill of a reel that
goes by several titles in Boston publisher Elias Howe's publications; "Peggy
Whiffle's", "Evansville Reel" or "Clem Titus Jig". It may ultimately be sourced
to a minstrel-era performer named Clem Titus, who contributed a few tunes to
Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883). It is very similar to "Rat Catcher’s Reel" and
the nearly identical "Wide Awake Reel" (also printed in Cole's).
It was printed in O'Neill (Krassen) (1976),
O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903) and
O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems (1907).
