"Don Tremaine's Reel" is a Canadian and American reel in D Major. The parts are played AABB (Brody, Phillips, Songer) or AA'BB' (Kaufman). It was composed by Barrie, Ontario, fiddler Graham Townsend in 1961 and named for the announcer of the CBC television show "Don Messer's Jubilee". The melody is a past favorite at New England contra dances. It was printed in Brody's Fiddler's Fakebook (1983), Kaufman's Beginning Old Time Fiddle (1977), Phillips's Traditional American Fiddle Tunes, vol. 1 (1994), Songer's Portland Collection (1997). It was recorded by Graham Townsend on Famous Canadian Fiddlers vol. 1 (1960), Ken Perlman on Clawhammer Banjo and Fingerstyle Guitar Solos (1983 ) and Fennigs All Stars on The Hammered Dulcimer (1973).
