Also known as "Hey Mr. Muskrat", "Honeysuckle", "Honeysuckle Rag",<br> "Huckleberry Blues" and "Poca River Blues.<br> The tune is credited to Tennessee fiddler Charlie Bowman (1889-1962)<br> who is said to have composed it in the 1920’s. Bowman had not named<br> the tune prior to recording it and the name "East Tennessee Blues"<br> was suggested by fiddler and bandleader Al Hopkins (of Al Hopkins and<br> His Buckle Busters, featuring Bowman on fiddle).<br> This is one of the post-ragtime "rags" that fiddlers and mandolin players<br> developed in the early 20th century using the syncopated rhythms of the<br> ragtime tradition.<br> Other rags/blues tunes in this collections are:<br> Cherry River Rag<br> Colored Aristocracy<br> Dora Dean<br> Old Jackson Stomp<br> Pig Ankle Rag<br> Ragtime Annie<br> Stone's Rag<br> - all in the Tunes section and<br> East Tennessee Blues<br> Eli Greens Cakewalk<br> Hawkin's Rag<br> Horace Hanesworth<br> Sister Kate<br> Woody's Rag<br> - in the Legacies section.<br>
