"Farewell to Long Hollow" also known as "Monroe's Farewell to Long Hollow" is a bluegrass breakdown in A Minor. The parts are played AB. It was composed by the legendary "father of bluegrass" mandolinist Bill Monroe, although he never recorded it. The tune was popularized through the 1983 recording by Alabama fiddler James Bryan. It was recorded by James Bryan on Lookout Blues (1983) and on The Corndrinkers and The Warrior River Boys (1990).
