"Hound Dog Song" is from Vance Randolph's Ozark Folksongs. According to Randolph, this was very popular in the Ozarks during the 1912 presidential campaign of Champ Clark. It is also in Lomax's Folksongs of North America. I learned it from the recording by The Golden Ring on Folk Legacy.
