"The Texian Boys", also known as "The Tex-i-an Boys" is another version of
"The Arkansas Boys".
It was printed in Belden's Ballads and Songs Collected by the Missouri Folk-Lore Society (as "Texan Boys") (1955), Lomax and Lomax's Folk Song USA (as "When You Go A-Courtin'" and "The Texian Boys") (1947), Silverman's The Liberated Woman's Songbook. It was recorded by The Tex-i-an Boys (John A. Lomax, Jr, Pete Rose, Jim McConnell, Howard Porper and Ed Badeaux) on Songs of Texas (1961), Pete Seeger on American Favorite Ballads vol 5 (1962). |
