This was collected by Cecil Sharp in both England and America although he edited the lyrics in his publications (One Hundred English Folksongs). It was also collected from Mrs. Mae Kennedy McCord in the Ozarks by Vance Randolph. It is printed in Folk Songs of Peggy Seeger. I have known it a long time but I forget from whom I learned it. It might have been Pete Seeger. It was also recorded by A. L.Lloyd, Ewan MacColl and Hedy West.
