"Blue Goose", also known as "Grey Goose" or "Susan's Gone" is an American reel<br> in cut time and G Major. The parts are played AB.<br> The tune is a variant of the better-known<br> "Barlow Knife".<br> Mark Wilson also notes that the tune was called<br> "Boatin'/Boating Up Sandy"<br> in the Portsmouth, Ohio, region (although that name has been used for several<br> tunes). See also Glen Lyn, Virginia, fiddler Henry Reed's<br> "Cabin Creek"<br> another tune in the "Barlow Knife" family.<br> It was printed in Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes, vol. 1 (1994) and<br> Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021).<br> It was recorded by Buddy Thomas on Buddy Thomas: Recordings from the collection<br> of Dave Spilia & Ray Alden (2015) and on<br> Kitty Puss: Old Time Fiddle Music From Kentucky (1976, originally recorded 1973),<br> Rhys Jones, Jeff Miller, Jim Nelson on Mississippi Square Dance vol. 2 (2004)<br> (A version similar to Buddy Thomas's, traced to a Dave Vettik, c. 1972).<br>
