"Buffalo Girls", also known as "Buffalo Girl" is an old-time breakdown usually played in A Major
using AEae fiddle tuning. The parts are played AB or AA'BB'.
I learned this from Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer who played it in a medley with "Puncheon Floor".
I transcribed it by ear in G.
There is a slight similarity to
"Buffalo Gals"
in 'G'. This tune is unusual is that it starts
on the high or part.
It was printed in Silberberg's Tunes I Learned at Tractor Tavern (2002).
It was recorded by Bruce Molsky on Lost Boy (1996),
John Hatcher on American Fiddle Tunes (a reissue of the 1971 Library of Congress LP of
field recordings) and
Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer on Old Time Banjo Festival (2007).
