This tune is probably of traditional French Canadian origin.<br> The tune is attributed to North Dakota fiddler Joe Pancerzewski (1905-1991),<br> who said he heard it when he was eight years old (c. 1913). It was named<br> after a small town in Saskatchewan and was brought to Pacerzewski's<br> region from Canada by Bill Smith. The waltz was popular at New England<br> and Northern contra dances for many years, popularized by the<br> Albany, NY, based band Fennig's All Stars.<br> It was printed in Brody's Fiddler's Fakebook (1983) and Matthiesen's Waltz Book I (1992).<br> It has been recorded by Bill Spence and Fennig's All Stars on The Hammered Dulcimer,<br> Joe Pancerzewski on The Fiddling Engineer and<br> Pete McMahan on 50 Old-Time Fiddle Gems.<br> I learned it from the Fennig's All Stars The Hammered Dulcimer album.<br>
