"Cattle in the Cane", also known as "Cattle in the Corn" is an old-time or Bluegrass breakdown<br> from Texas in A Mixolydian ('A' part) & A Aeolian ('B' part). The parts are played AABB (Brody) or<br> AA'BB (Phillips).<br> The melody was recorded by Texan M.J. Bonner in the 1920's. It is often played with a pizzicato<br> feature.<br> Sources for notated versions are Joe Green [Brody] and Sam Bush & Benny Thomasson (Texas)<br> [Phillips].<br> It was printed in Brody's Fiddler’s Fakebook (1983) and<br> Phillips' Traditional American Fiddler Tunes, Vol. 1 (1994).<br> It was recorded by<br> Lonnie Peerce on Golden Fiddle Tunes,<br> Joe Green on Joe Green's Fiddle Album (appears as "Cattle in the Corn"),<br> Glen Smith on Say Old Man (1990),<br> Berline, Bush and O'Conner on In Concert,<br> Gerry Milnes & Lorriane Lee Hammond on Hell Up Coal Holler (1999) and<br> Norman Blake on Directions.<br>
