"Christmas Hornpipe" is an American hornpipe in the unusual key (for a fiddle tune) of B Flat Major. The parts are played AABB. This tune is popular with contra-dance groups. Elias Howe printed contra-dance directions along with the tune in 1867. It was printed in Howe's Improved Edition of the Musician's Omnibus (1861), Howe's 1000 Jigs and Reels (c. 1867), Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940), Ford's Traditional Music in America (1940) and White's Unique Collection (1986).
