"Coming Up the Pike", also known as "Coming Up the Turnpike" is an American reel in
C Major. The parts are played AABB. It was known in Arkansas and Missouri.
The tune was recorded for the Library of Congress in the early 1940's by
musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph from Ozarks Mountains fiddlers, among them
William Bilyeu (1943) and Delbert McGrath (1942).
The A part resembles "Fort Smith" while other similarities can be found with
"Old Buzzard" and "Nubbin Ridge". The B part is crooked with 10 measures.
It was printed by Beisswenger & McCann's Ozark Fiddle Music (2008).
It was recorded by Art Galbraith on Dixie Blossoms (1981).
