"Cowboy Waltz" is a traditional waltz known to a number of performers in G or D major.
The parts are played AB or AA'B.
It was collected for the Library of Congress by Alan Jabbour from his informant Henry Reed
at his family home in Glen Lyn, Giles County, Virginia on August 27, 1966.
Reed gave no name to this waltz, but it is usually known as the "Cowboy Waltz" and has been
a standard in folk and popular song and dance repertory throughout the twentieth century.
Like the waltz in C he performed twice in the LOC collection, Henry Reed learned this tune
from recordings of Henry Ford's Orchestra.
It was recorded by Woody Guthrie for Folkways Records founder, Moses Asch.
