"Dallas Rag" is an old-time country rag from Texas in F Major.
The city of Dallas, Texas, was named for an American vice-president, George Dallas, though the name Dallas itself has Celtic origins (the town of Dallas is in Morayshire, Scotland) and means "meadow by the wood". The Dallas Stringband was an African-American group, featuring mandolinist Coley Jones, Sam Harris on guitar and Marco Washington on string bass. The group recorded the side for Columbia in Dallas, Texas, in December, 1927.
It was printed in Brody's Fiddler's Fakebook (1983).
It was recorded by The New Lost City Ramblers, John McCutcheon and The Dallas Stringband.
