"Donald Cameron's Polka", also known as "Donald Cameron's Reel" is a Canadian polka or<br> reel in cut time and G Major. The parts are played AABB.<br> Perlman (1996) identifies the tune as coming from Cape Breton, although it is labelled<br> by David Brody in The Fiddler's Fakebook (1983) as a Shetland Reel.<br> The sources for the notated version are Joseph Cormier (Cape Breton & Massachusetts)<br> [Brody] and Sterling Baker (b. Mid-1940's, Montague, Northeast King's County, Prince<br> Edward Island) [Perlman].<br> The tune is possibly named for Donald Cameron who was a famous Scottish piper in<br> the 19th century and won the “Champion of Champions” title at Inverness in 1867 to<br> become "King of Pipers".<br> The tune was printed in Brody's Fiddler's Fakebook (1983) and<br> Perlman's The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island (1996).<br> It was recorded by Joe Cormier on The Dances Back Home (1977) and<br> Theresa and Marie MacLellan on A Trip to Mabou Ridge (1979). <br> <br>
