"Don't You Cry My Honey" is an American song/reel in cut time and A Major.<br> It is often played AEae fiddle tuning. The parts are played AABB.<br> It is a reel with words, usually floating verses that don't have much lyric<br> content.<br> It was recorded by the north Georgia group The Skillet Lickers in 1930.<br> The words were sung intermittently while the band played the tune.<br> The melody itself is a variant of a widespread song-tune known variously as<br> "Take Me Back to Georgia", "Rattlesnake Bit the Baby" and other titles.<br> The tune brings to mind the children's game song "Go In and Out the Windows".<br> The notation is an approximation of the The Skillet Lickers loose and<br> improvisational style. They probably didn't play it exactly the same way twice.<br> It was printed in Clare Milliner & Walt Koken's Milliner-Koken Collection of<br> American Fiddle Tunes (2011).<br> It was recorded by The Skillet Lickers (1930)(78 single) and on Complete<br> Recorded Works vol. 5 (2000).<br>
