"Feed My Horse on Corn and Hay", also known as "Feed Your Horse on Corn and Hay" is an
American reel in cut time and G Major. The parts are played ABB' (Milliner & Koken),
AABB (Titon) or ABCBCBC (Marshall).
The tune comes from north-eastern Kentucky fiddler Buddy Thomas (1935-1974), who learned it
from his cousin Perry Riley (1893-1973).
It was printed in Milliner & Koken's Milliner-Koken Collection of American Fiddle
Tunes (2011),
Titon's Old-Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes (2001) and
Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021).
It was recorded by Buddy Thomas on Buddy Thomas: Recordings from the collection of
Dave Spilkia & Ray Alden (2015),
Erynn Marshall & Chris Coole on Meet Me in the Music (2011),
Buddy Thomas (et al) on Traditional Fiddle Music of Kentucky, vol. 1: Up the Ohio and Licking
Rivers (1997) and
Perry Riley on The Art Of Old-Time Mountain Music (2003).
