"Got a Little Home to Go To" is an American reel in cut time and A Minor. The parts are
played AA'. The second ending is extended by four measures.
This version of "Got a Little Home to go to/Little Home to go to" is from southwestern Kentucky fiddler W.L. "Jake" Phelps (1885-1977), Pea Ridge, near Elkhart, Todd County. Mr. Phelps was aged 88 at the time of his field recording in 1973 and had a bit of trouble remembering the tune. However, with some encouragement by field recorder Bruce Greene he was able to produce a creditable moderately paced version. I have set this version in a livelier tempo. It was printed in Clare Milliner & Walt Koken's Milliner-Koken Collection of American Fiddle Tunes (2011). |
