"Green Corn", also known as "Hot Corn, Cold Corn" is an old-time breakdown in A Mixolydian.<br> It is often played in ADae fiddle tuning.<br> The tune was recorded for the Library of Congress by<br> musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph from Ozark Mountain fiddlers in the early 1940's.<br> John Hartford (2001) says, "Dr. Gray played<br> this on the fiddle and the banjo, and Dough Dillard says this is the first tune he learned<br> to pick on the banjo." Dr. Jimmy Gray played the fiddle in contests in the great Jefferson<br> City radio fiddle conventions.<br> It was printed in Rice's Correct Method for Banjo (1858),<br> Milliner and Koken's Milliner-Koken Collection of American Fiddle Tunes (2011) and<br> Old Time Fiddling From The State Of West Virginia<br> It was recorded by Harvey Sampson and the Big Possum String Band on Flat Foot in the<br> Ashes (1986/1994) and<br> John Hartford on Hamilton Ironworks (2001).<br>
