"Hagantown Gals" is an old-time breakdown known in southwestern Pennsylvania in<br> G Major. The parts are played AB.<br> Samuel Bayard collected this tune from Irvin Yaugher Jr. of Mt. Independence,<br> Fayette County, Pennsylvania on October 19th 1943.<br> Fayette County, southeast of Pittsburgh, is the location of two of Frank Lloyd Wright's<br> houses (Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob). Kentuck Knob, also known as the Hagan House,<br> was built for Isaac N. and Benardine Hagan, owners of the Hagan Ice Cream Company.<br> This is possibly the origin of the "Hagantown" name of this tune.<br> It was printed in Bayard's Hill Country Tunes (1944). He pairs this tune with "Johnstown<br> Gals" under the heading of "Buffalo Gals".<br>
