"The Hesleyside Reel" is an English reel in A Major. The parts are played AABB.<br> It was composed by Tommy Elliot of Gunnerton.<br> Hesleyside Hall is in southern Northumberland near Bellingham, the ancestral<br> home of the Charlton family on the banks of the North Tyne. It was built in<br> 1719 on or near the site of a 14th century tower house and part of a wall<br> of the tower is possibly incorporated in the present building.<br> The tune was printed in Phillips' Fiddlecase Tunebook: British Isles (1989).<br> It was recorded by Alistair Anderson on Traditional Tunes (1976) and<br> Kathryn Tickell on On Kielder Side (1984).<br>
