A dorian mode tune played sometimes in A and sometimes in D (although<br> this version is in D minor)<br> This tune comes from West Virginia or from Western Virginia. It has<br> been attributed to the Hammons family and Henry Reed but does not<br> appear in the Library of Congress Henry Reed collection.<br> The tune was in the repertoire of legendary fiddler J. Dedrick Harris,<br> born in Tennessee, who moved to Western N.C. in the 1920's and<br> influenced a generation of fiddlers there.<br> It was printed in Johnson's The Kitchen Musician No. 2: Occasional Collection of<br> Old-Timey Fiddle Tunes for Hammer Dulcimer, Fiddle, etc. (1982)(revised 1988, 2003),<br> Reiner's Anthology of Fiddle Styles (1979) and<br> Songer's Portland Collection (1997).<br> This plays well in medleys with:<br> "Greasy Coat"<br> "Wagoner"<br> both in this section.<br>
