"The Honeymoon Reel", also known as "The Half-Penny" is an English, Scottish and<br> American reel in A dorian. The parts are played AABB or AB in Cole.<br> I don't have any history for this tune. I found it in Cole.<br> The tune interestingly puts long notes on beat two or sometimes beat three of a number of<br> measures giving it an atypical bouncing feel. Whether this<br> indicates that the tune was used for a special dance or not, I can't say.<br> It was printed in Cole's 1000 Fiddle Tunes (1940), Giblin's Collection of Traditional<br> Irish Dance Music (1928), Kennedy's Fiddlers Tune Book, vol. 1 (1951), Kerr's Merry<br> Melodies, vol. 2, Raven's English Country Dance Tunes (1984), Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883)<br> and White's Unique Collection (1896). <br>
