Also known as "Harper's Ferry".<br> Named after the abolitionist who stormed the United States<br> Arsenal at Harper's Ferry, Virginia, in 1859, and who was<br> hanged for treason. There is some thought Brown's 'march'<br> was his march to the scaffold, although this may be apocryphal.<br> It was printed in Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle (1981) from the<br> playing of James Taylor (fifer from northern W.Va. and<br> southwestern Pa. in the 1930's).<br> I play this in a medley with:<br> "Greasy String"<br> "Forks of Sandy"<br> both in this section.<br>
