"Juliann Johnson", also known as "Julie Ann Johnson" or "Julian Johnson" is an old-time breakdown in D Major. It is played in ADae or standard fiddle tuning. The parts are played AB (Silberberg), AABB (Phillips, Songer) or AA'BB' (Lamancusa).
This is an old-time clawhammer banjo favorite. I can't find much background for this tune but most old-time banjo players seem to know it. I learned it from Riley Baugus at Elderly Instruments' Midwest Banjo Camp.
The banjo tablature given here is by John Letscher.
It was printed in Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes, vol. 1 (1994) (as "Julian Johnson"), Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021) (as Julie Ann Johnson), Silberberg's Tunes I Learned at Tractor Tavern (2002) (as Julie Ann Johnson) and Songer's Portland Collection (1997).
