"Kansas Waltz" is an American waltz in D major. The parts are played AB.
I found this tune in John Lamancusa's collection. He says it was a part of Elias Howe's collection but I have not been able to track down in what publication, if any, it appeared.
There is sheet music on file at the Library of Congress of a "Kansas Waltz" by Fred Hoffman, copyright 1885 by the publisher W. F. Shaw but it is a completely different melody.
The melody is rhythmically interesting with syncopated measures in both parts.
It was printed in Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021). It was recorded by James Bryan & Carl Jones on Cricket's Lullaby (2011).
