"Katydid Waltz" is an American waltz in 3/4 time and G Major.<br> It was recorded in February, 1929, in New York City, by the Blue Ridge<br> Mountain Trio, consisting of steel guitarist Frank Wilson, banjo player<br> Walter Bowman and fiddler Charlie Bowman.<br> The waltz was in the repertoire of fiddler Jim Herd of Sunnyside, Washington.<br> Herd's family was originally from Tennessee, then removed to Missouri.<br> Herd moved to Washington State when still a young man.<br> The tune was printed in Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes,<br> vol. 2 (1995).<br> It was recorded Blue Ridge Mountain Trio (1929) (78 RPM) and<br> Jim Herd on Old Time Ozark Fiddling. <br>
