This "King of Denmark's March" is not the same as the "Prince of Denmark's March" attributed
to Jeremiah Clarke that is also known as "Trumpet Voluntary" and is frequently used at
weddings. That march was written in honor of Prince George of Denmark, husband of Queen
Anne of Great Britain.
The parts are played AABB in D. The parts are very different from a dance form. The A part
has 10 measures and the B part has 21 measures.
This version comes from a book with the extended title of Entire New and Compleat
Instructions for the Fife, Containing the Best and Easiest Directions To Learn that Instrument
with a Collection of the Most Celebrated Marches, Airs & etc. Performed in the Guards &
Other Regiments which was printed in London in 1779 by Longman and Broderip.
It was reprinted in Moon's Musick of the Fifes and Drums, Vol 2: Slow Marches (1977).
