"The Mahoning Reel", also known as "The Mahoning Schottische"
is an American reel or schottische in C Major. USA, southwestern Pa.
The parts are played AA'BB'.
Bayard (1981) was not able to trace the tune, but thought it had
"all the earmarks of a schottische".
There are Mahoning Townships in Armstrong, Carbon, Lawrence and
Montour Counties in Pennsylvania. There are also North, East,
South and West Mahoning Townships in Indiana County in Pennsylvania.
Bayard collected this from eight southwestern Pennsylvania fiddlers.
It was printed in Bayard's Dance to the Fiddle (1981).
