"Merry Girls of New York" is an American country dance tune in cut time and A Major.<br> The parts are played AABB.<br> The tune appears in the private (loose) manuscripts of the American painter William<br> Sidney Mount (1807-1868), who was also a fiddler and much interested in the popular<br> music of his day. Alongside the tune in his manuscript reads the note: "Composed by<br> T. Ntt(?)". At the top of the manuscript page is the date: "Stony Brook (Long Island,<br> New York), Jan. 7th, 1849".<br>
