"Mississippi Snagboat" is an American reel in D Major.<br> A snagboat is a river boat, resembling a barge with superstructure for<br> crew accommodations and deck-mounted cranes and hoists for removing snags<br> and other obstructions from rivers and other shallow waterways.<br> During the American Civil War, when much of the naval fighting was done<br> on rivers and their tributaries, numerous snagboats were in operation.<br> The banjo tablature is by John Letscher who says he got it from Vernon Spencer<br> of Kansas and the Canote Brothers.<br> It was recorded by Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains on The Spotted Pony<br> and other tunes from the midwest corridor (2016).<br>
