"My Own House Waltz", also known as "My Ain Hoose", "My Home" ("Mo dhachaidh"),<br> "My Home Waltz" or "Old Living Room Waltz" is an English or Scottish old-time slow air or<br> waltz (3/4 or 6/8 time) in A Major (most versions), A Major ('A' part) & D Major ('B' part)<br> (Phillips). The parts are played one part (Laufman), AB (Kennedy, Laufman, Phillips, Raven),<br> AABB (Brody) or AA'BB' (Kaufman). Scottish versions are generally titled "My Home" ("Mo<br> dhachaidh"), have a slightly different 'B' part and feature a double tonic at the cadences.<br> Phillips' version, in two keys, is simply a melodic repeat of the same material in the<br> subdominent key.<br> The waltz was popular among "revival" fiddlers of the 1970's, but does not seem to have been<br> in tradition in America prior to then. Instead, it was probably learned from tune books,<br> first by contra-dance musicians, then by old-time.<br> It was printed in Brody's Fiddler's Fakebook (1983),<br> Kaufman's Beginning Old Time Fiddle (1977),<br> Kennedy's Fiddler's Tune-Book, vol. 2 (1954)(appears as "My Home Waltz"),<br> Laufman's Okay, Let's Try a Contra (1973)(appears as "My Home"),<br> Martin's Ceol na Fidhle, vol. 2 (1988),<br> Matthiesen's The Waltz Book (1992),<br> Phillips' Traditional American Fiddle Tunes, vol. 2 (1995) and<br> Raven's English Country Dance Tunes (1984).<br> It was recorded by Glasnotes on Live from Contrafornia,<br> Dave Bromberg on My Own House,<br> F&W String Band on F&W String Band 2,<br> Strathspey on New England Contra Dance Music (1977)(Appears as "My Home Waltz"),<br> Lauchlin Stamper & A.C.
