"Old Grimes" is an American reel in D major. The parts are played AA’BB’.<br> This tune is hard to track down. There aren't a lot of sources available<br> although there are a few videos on youtube.<br> The banjo tab comes from my banjo collaborator John Letscher who learned it from<br> the playing of Lukas Poole. It was new to me.<br> The standard notation comes from the guitar tab version of Julian Lage and<br> Chris Eldridge on acousticguitar.com and Lamancusa's Gettysburg Collection.<br> It is not related to the old comic song known as "Old Father Grimes" or<br> "Old Grimes is Dead". <br> It was printed in<br> Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021).<br> It was recorded by Josh Williams, Andy Falco and Chris Eldridge on Live at the<br> Station (2011) and<br> Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge on Mount Royal (2017).<br>
