"Red Fox" is an American reel in cut time and G Major or G Major ('A' part) & D Major
('B' part). The parts are played AABB.
Alan Jabbour collected the tune from Henry Reed. He called the tune "unusual
and, so far untraceable" and speculated it may have derived from a 6/8 jig,
transformed into a duple time tune in the Upland South.
The banjo tablature is by John Letscher who plays the A and B parts reversed.
It was printed in Krassen's Appalachian Fiddle (1973) and
Clawhammer Banjo (1974).
It was recorded by
The Hollow Rock String Band on The Hollow Rock String Band (1974) and
Tom Bledsoe & Rich Kirby on Hits From Home (1982).
